Cytopathology
This is the branch of pathology that studies and diagnoses diseases based on changes at the cellular level. It uses samples of free cells in contrast with histopathology which studies whole tissue. At The Specialist Laboratories, we perform cytopathology in various forms: Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology — fluid is aspirated from a solid lump or cyst in the body and analysed for the presence of disease. Body Fluid Cytology — fluid collected from body cavities is analysed for the presence of disease.
